The Great Mawla Ghaati Ultra
About the Event
The Great Mawla Ghaati Ultra honours the legendary Mawla warriors who defended Maharashtra's Sahyadri mountains under Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. These fearless 'Ghaati' warriors mastered mountain warfare in the twisted routes of the mighty Sahyadris, appearing as simple farmers but transforming into formidable fighters when battle called.
This June ultra marathon offers six challenging categories from 10k with 499m elevation to the ultimate 161k featuring 9,183m elevation gain. The route traverses previously unexplored sections of the Sahyadri ranges with zero loops, taking runners through the most technically challenging terrain in the Bhor-Velha-Pune region.
Organised by Indian Sports Revolution, The Great Mawla Ghaati Ultra combines extreme trail running with Maharashtra's rich cultural heritage, offering participants the chance to run where history was made whilst conquering some of India's most demanding mountain terrain.
